Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

Low 60s & partly cloudy, changing to 70sF and sunny. Objectives: club run, endurance w/ some moderate intensity (3 x 2 mi MP plus 0-15 seconds), then finished with Leg Builder Hill (quite a bit of which, I confess, I walked to avoid heat sickness). It was pukey-hot those last 6 miles. Yay for me - I didn't actually lose it, though I did have to sit on a park bench for a few minutes in my 17th mile. Though it's cooler than it has been the past couple of days, it's still way too expletive-deleted hot for running, in my opinion. Many sights on this morning's run. Early on, I stumbled upon a film crew making a car commercial. The cop was mad at me for being there but I snapped a photo of the car that had the camera boom on its roof: IMG_0707

The wildlife count was excellent this morning: many rabbits, an enormous bullfrog, 3 golden finches (which, despite being our State Bird, one hardly ever sees), and a herd of elk. I also saw a hilarious herd of alpacas but they don't count for wildlife since it was a farm. They just crack me up after they've been sheared, all skinny with big hair just on the head. Finally, just before going up the LB Hill, along came Thomas the Tank Engine. IMG_0709

And as long as I'm posting photos, here is Dandelion, getting a walk on his leash. I cannot say things have improved much. Still a lot of yowling and body-fluid-protests going on. But isn't he cute? IMG_0693

I apologize for not following my blog buddies' entries lately. I'm doing the best I can, but life is just crazy right now and something has to give. My thoughts are still very much with you.

Great job cranking out another 20 miler, and this one in the heat.

Thanks for posting the pictures. They're lots of fun. One of my kids used to really be into Thomas the Tank Engine, but we've outgrown that and have given all our little wooden trains away.

Dandelion is a lot smaller than I imagined him!

When you saw Thomas the train did you think, "I think I can, I think I can!"

From Snoqualmie on Mon, Jul 12, 2010 at 12:27:28 from 24.18.192.33

He seems huge to me. Probably just his personality influence. lol He's about 13 pounds.

When I saw Thomas, I only thought about whipping out my iPhone for a photo. My good friend has small boys and I immediately sent the picture. They do this Thomas event at the Snoqualmie Railroad Museum every year. I like it because it means added portapotties in town. The Runner's Perspective you know.
