Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

48F, partly cloudy, calm.  G-A run w/ unplanned MP mile to finish.  20 min strength.

A mile from home I saw Sean Sundwall's sister, a very nice, very fast runner from our club, who kindly slowed down (off her "easy" 8:00) pace, to run with me for a while.  She knows my next marathon course very well, and talked about various questions I had, as well as her recent Boston experience.  I glanced at my Garmin as we were heading up relatively steep hill (me, trying to conceal my gasping for air) and the pace was 9:02.   I wanted to do a hard workout tomorrow, so I hope I didn't overdo it.

Legs feel fine today. The Piranhas are becoming my favorite shoe, though I haven't tried going long in them.

Asics Piranha Miles: 7.20

Wow sounds like you had a nice run, sometimes it's good to have company on a run, especially if they push you. Hope she gave you some good insight about your upcoming marathon.

Sommer is Great! She told me on Sunday that she would probably just take it easy at the half...and then Sean told me she was shooting for a 7:00 pace...Yikes!

Are you running the half? If so or even if not you are welcome to come to our place on Friday evening for a pasta feed...we're inviting people we know are running the half to just come hang out for a bit or a longer while.

Nice fast finish run. Would you be willing to send me an e-mail and tell me what you learned about Newport?

Carolyn - emailing you in a minute.

Jeff - I am registered for the half, but this is the race I'll have to miss because my daughter's first horse show was rescheduled due to rain. I cannot miss that show. There is the tiniest chance we'll get too much rain again, but not likely. With the way things have been this past week, it might be for the best. We have the funeral on Thursday and extra horse related duties on Friday. I feel exhausted and it's only Tuesday.
