Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

48F, rainy & windy.  Easy run.  20 min. strength.

I still feel like I'm recovering from Saturday (dead legs) and tapering a bit too for a half-m next weekend. So, I doddled.  Then I cut the run short too.  It's very nice to have a valid excuse for slacking off on such a wet day!

Totally valid! What race are you running next weekend?

Crappy weather! You're running a half and didn't even tell me...thanks a lot! :-)

I think you have a great excuse to toddle! We should have much warmer weather than last year for the Nookachamps.

Jeff - Now I'm pretty sure I tried to rope you into signing up for Nookachamps at some point, didn't I? Not too late, you know! They have a 5K, 10K and half.

TB - This race runs through the fields where Trumpeter Swans migrate at this time of year, and they are all over the place, honking their heads off. It's pretty cool. http://nookachamps.com/

That sounds really pretty!

You may have told me about it, but I don't remember. Good Luck!

Your pace for this race should be 8:44 according to McMillan running calculator. You should be able to nail that...(that's based on a 4 hour marathon time)

From Snoqualmie on Mon, Jan 11, 2010 at 23:26:05 from 24.18.192.33

8:44 - I don't know.... Maybe on the flats. My PR on this course is 2:04:06. It would be nice to beat that but beyond that, it's just a fun MP run. Fun - I *hope*. We could get drenched as we are in a repeating storm pattern right now.

Hey - that reminds me. A-Em, is Mt. Vernon in the rain shadow?

Great job running in the wind and the rain. And good luck with your upcoming race. It sounds beautiful.
