No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

49F, cloudy, dry, breezy at times.  Progression run on hilly terrain (3,3,3, c.d.) 12:37, 11:51, 11:13 / 10:38, 10:29, 10:08 / 9:31, 9:24, 9:15.   15 min. strength routine.

Pretty good workout. The last mile was at a very hard effort, but also run on hills.  I like it that each mile was faster than the last, even though I was thinking of the progression in 3 mile chunks.

As I passed by some woods I saw a bald eagle circling the top of a large tree, chased by a little crow whose nest was in the tree, I presume.   "Oh, it's so beautiful."  But then, The Cat Who Must Be Obeyed didn't turn up at home like he normally does and I imagined him being carried away by that eagle. "D%$#%@ eagle!"  But he (the cat) did eventually come home, so all is well.  Just for fun, this is not my cat, but it looks just like him.

whew, close call! What a stunning cat, I love them, now that you and Samantha have pointed these out to me I am coveting them a lot!

Great run today Sno!

Wow, can't get much more textbook progression than those splits. On hilly terrain too. Spooky.

Great Finish Sno!

Great job on the progression run.

That cat really has a determined look. I know it's not your cat, but given your cat's name, I assume he/she gets the same look.

Carolyn - Level 1 is the look. Level 2 is meowing his little head off with the most imperious tone I have ever heard from a cat. Level 3, which is quite dangerous - you really don't want things to get that far - is peeing on something nearby. Kidding aside, he's the best cat I've ever had.

Nice run!

Your cat looks like a tiger.

Nice run! I really envy the scenery you have up there too. It's so beautiful. I used to run down by the beach in Steilacoom, but the shoulder is so narrow that now I just stick around the park where I won't get run over. I see deer pretty often, but I can't remember the last time I saw an eagle.

That's funny to me that the best cat you've ever had pees on stuff when he gets mad. I just had a lengthy discussion on facebook with a friend that can't understand why a landlord would want a $1000 pet deposit for his cat :)
