Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

53F, clear.  Easy run.

You can see why I never really acclimate to warm weather running.  But on Saturday I will have miserable heat if I don't get out early enough.  We'll be having a heat wave, PNW style: high 80s w/ humidity.

I'm in the same situation. While it's a little warmer here than it is where you are, on average, I get the coolest temperatures of the day by running in the morning. I haven't run in real heat all summer. The hottest I ever get is late morning on a Saturday. So we've both got to try to get out early on Saturday.

Either that or suffer and acclimate. A little suffering is good for the soul. But bad for the ego when you look at your pace.

Yes, the heat is coming! I've got 20 miles on the schedule, and its a long slog along a road! Might be better in the woods....Ah well, it will be over by 10:00

Anything in the 80's is hot (talking about temperatures, not pop culture). You never seem to have a problem getting up and out early enough to beat the heat.

I want to beat the heat tomorrow too. I'm planning a 10 miler on HWY 106 along Hood Canal. I also want to stay up late to watch the meteor showers so getting up early will be a chore. Have you been watching the last couple nights?
